I was finding it difficult to come up with new ideas for some cards and even after flicking through some old magazines and books I still couldn’t come up with any thing. But I then started to look back at some previous cards I have made I got an idea from 2 previous designs that I joined together. This is made using the watercolour technique and stamps where you ink up your stamp and spritz the stamp with water before stamping onto water colour paper.
Inks: Adirondack Wild plum, Red pepper, Terra cotta, Stream, Lettuce, and Oregano
Card: water colour paper, old olive card, ivory card
Stamps: Clarity stamps Dandelion heads, Satampin up Pocket silhouettes, unknown dragonfly stamp, Papertrey ink Out on a limb sentiments
Other: Stampin up hardware, Tiny mosaic Cranberry, East of India ribbon
I made up some background paper first then made two similar but not identical cards with it.
This one was for Jessica and the other for Erin.
Firstly I dribbled some masking fluid down some watercolour paper and left it to dry. Then I sprayed colour over it and sprinkled with some salt crystals and again waited until it dried. I brushed away the salt then stamped the dragonflies, painted them with H2Os and once they were dry I coated them with diamond glaze. I then stamped the dandelions and added little dots of stickles to highlight parts. The quote is stamped and embossed on a slice of mica. I like splattering gold over the top to get little highlights, I did try sprinkling gold embossing powder on the surface and heating from underneath but it tends to just melt right into the thick paper so I splattered with gold Krylon pen.
Inks: Versamark with gold embossing powder, Big and Juicy Spice, Chroma jewel sprays Amber, Wine, Elderberry and Slate, Cosmic shimmer sunset mist, H2Os
Card: Water colour card, large aperture card
Stamps: Non Sequitur Oriental collage elements, Lavinia stamps Dandelions
Other: Mica, gold nail heads, Diamond glaze, stickles, Krylon pen, masking fluid, salt flakes
Here are my ATCs for the CBC swap for July. We had to use a stamp in this swap rather than a particular theme so I used a couple of the free stamps from the craft stamper magazine (and a background stamp for the piece of vellum).
