July scraplift scrapbook page

teamShandBlkWhtSml

Only a little bit late: Heather chose our crop’s July scraplift (to be finished by August but we are all a bit behind).  This lift is taken from Becky Fleck’s Pagemaps book (p18 but 12 x 12) with her kind permission.

During the 80’s I used to race (monkey in sidecar) most weekends and if I wasn’t racing I was either marshalling or spectating.  I haven’t been to a race meeting in a long time now and making this page brought back lots of memories.  We were known as Team Shandy and in those days there were hardly any female motorcycle racers about.  Gordon Shand is still racing sidecars  but with a very different outfit.  The top photo on the page is of  one of my first attempts in an old front-exit sidecar with Adrian Smith driving: I had to use Kenny Harris’s leathers (who was his usual passenger) as I didn’t have any and as you can tell, I haven’t quite got the hang of it yet.
I have used a few of my old rather tatty black and white photos for this layout so I kept to a black and white theme with a touch of grey for the shading.   If you pull the black tag it pulls out a plastic wallet with my old racing licences and motor club cards.
