WG Grace slide mailer

WG GraceInside

Happy birthday Connell.
I made this slide mailer for Connell’s 9th birthday. He really enjoys cricket (amongst other sports) so I found a lovely picture of WG Grace to put inside.
The slide mailer is coloured all over then covered using aluminium tape with peel-offs underneath to emboss the words and pattern. The tape was coloured using alcohol inks. The picture is glued behind the glass microscope slide using a clear glaze and this is then edged in foil tape and glued into it’s space. The red Grace cricket ball was punched out of card and a clear dome stuck over the top to give it a 3D effect. The gift box is an extra long match box which was painted and then decorated with silver peel-offs.

Inks: alcohol ink – stream
Other: slide mailer, extra long match box (with foam inside), silver peel-offs, aluminium foil tape, card, clear dome, pictures and computer generated wording, glaze

My Mother’s day card for Harry’s mum.
The frame is stamped and embossed then coloured using copic pens. The centre is cut out to reveal the message.

Cards: white card, old olive for base layer
Stamp: Michael Strong’s cloisonné frame

urban frenzy mum urban frenzy mum2
And a slightly different card for my mum. I thought I would go for a bit of urban grunge for my mum for a change. Mum is an artist and is very creative so I hope this will appeal to her.

Inks: versafine onyx black, Distress inks; tattered rose, mustard seed, fired brick, peeled paint, Brilliance lightning black, bleach,
Card: white textured, acetate, yellow vellum, luggage tag
Stamps: Stampers anonymous (Tim Holtz) Urban tapestry and Fairytale frenzy, Stampin up canvas background, RS tapestry nature plate 5 (butterfly)
Other: ribbon, washers, brads, large eyelet

The images are stamped first then the colour is added using colour dusters (small bristle brushes). Small areas are then highlighted with bleach. Edges are distressed using sandpaper block. The tag is made using the same technique with the addition of stamped wording on the top and on an acetate tag behind, fastened together using the large eyelet. The greeting is computer generated onto vellum which is then torn and layered with stamped, coloured and distressed card. The washers and brads hold the greeting together and this forms the pocket for the tag. Some tiny areas are highlighted with a bit of sparkle.

so I have been staying warm indoors with my scrapbook stuff spread all over the place for the last couple of days and here are my latest scrap pages. We put out birdseed and peanuts to attract the little birds to our garden but we often have other visitors to the bird feeders.
