Anniversary card

ChrisGrace2010CopSml

Inspiration for this card came from the CBC forum birthday challenge where the challenge was to create a card using only one colour. Some people made classy all white cards that I really liked for not only the simplicity but also the elegance of the effect. For Chris and Grace’s wedding anniversary this year I made this using only ivory (with gold on the greeting). The photo however adds a slightly strange colour to the ivory ribbon.

Inks: versamark embossing ink with gold powder
Card: ivory card, cotton white broderie (which looks more ivory than white), ivory card (through embossing folder)
Stamp: Stampin up Cheer and wishes
Other: ivory ribbon (wired), Prima flowers Innocence collection, Cuttlebug embossing folder Textile

ATC swap Altered photos

alteredPhotosCopSml

My ATCs for this months CBC swap are altered via my PC rather than stamping so I made use of a couple of great tutorials I found over on Jessica Prague’s blog. I hardly ever do digital stuff so I never remember how I got the results. I press keys and add layers then every now and again I get some nice results that I can never emulate.
Harry took the photo of the Forth railway bridge and I added the grunge frame from Jessica’s site and altered the RGB balance. The edges were further distressed physically.
The poppy photo is a result of me playing around with the macro facility on my camera along with Jessica’s tutorial on how to get the text to look like it is behind a petal. This one has a small border and corners added digitally too.

A badger and an owl card

badgerStevenSml

A few weeks ago I was asked to make a badger and an owl card for a good friend of mine. I used a photo for the front of the badger card and a stamped image (kindly sent by Rachel) for the back of the card and as it was a man’s card I didn’t add blooms and swirls but just a tiny bit of bling on the corners.

Inks: versamark with silver embossing powder
Card: black, silver and blue card, photo
Stamp: Michael Strong’s Mosaic frame
Other: pearls

For the owl card I kept to natural colours, used a photo of some bark (taken at Aviemore a few weeks ago) and a real feather which I hope is an owls. The background paper is hand made from recycled cotton T-shirts and the ribbon has leaves printed on it.

Inks: Moonshadow ink Burnt umber, Archival ink Coffee
Card: White card, hand made paper, brown card, photo
Stamps: owl stamp free from craft stamper mag
Other: peel-off leaves coloured and stuck to hand made paper, ribbon, hand made re-cycled paper, clear domes on eyes, copper brads, feather

A bit of Manga for Ceara

Ceara18
It is Ceara’s 18th birthday soon and I know she likes Manga style art and I have tried to emulate Ceara’s hair colour (although it changes every time I see her) hence the kind of red/purple mix – and would you believe it – she has gone brown again!
The digital stamp image is called FuwaFuwa created by CupuDOTexe: printed then coloured using copic pens. I heat set the ink just in case is smudged while colouring with the copics.Inks: black document, Memento rhubarb stalk (for edges)
Card: white card, Yuzen paper, origami paper, purple pearlescent card
Stamps: Elusive images Bookmark plate (greeting), digit stamp FuwaFuwa
Other: gem, stickles, copic pens, ribbon, mizuhiki cord, lucky kitty and blossom stickers, origami crane (for longevity)

Connell’s penny slider card

This card has a gap to enable the football to slide from side to side. The slider is just made up of two pennies held together via a magnet (hence the name of a penny slider card).

Stamps: Snoopy footballer image was from a previous swap, football from Dimension Fourth Ltd
Other: Rock candy distress stickles, two pennies, tiny magnet, black peel-off stars, 3D foam strips

CBC Spring and Birthday challenge 2010 – Another sketch

caughtBug sketch

This challenge is to make a card based on a sketch and for bonus points add a rub-on and something with wings. I have flipped the sketch over (mirror image) and turned it to portrait position. The rub- on is the coppery coloured circle on the folded over corner (it is actually concentric circles but the large brad cover a couple of them). Ladybirds fly (wings are under their elytra) but their wings are not shown here so I am not sure if this counts.

CBC Spring and Birthday challenge 2010 – A recipe and Cut it out

jan2010sml

Yes I know it is anther poor photograph – it looks much nicer in real life (honest!)
I have put this layout together to conform to two of the challenges: to a recipe that must include a brad, arrow and some doodling, and -Cut it out which states that you must cut something out more than once.
I doodled the clouds and cut them out, there are two brads and a clear arrow (sponges lightly with white and blue but you can’t tell from this photo).
