Wow I have spent almost all day making cards but have only come up with 5 for this challenge so far. The challenge is to use 1 item (I have used a Michael Strong’s Mozaic frame stamp) to make 10 different cards. I was going to photograph them in a group but some have very shiny mirror card and I had to many reflections going on everywhere.
The 3rd one down has silver mirror card as a matt and the bottom 2 have gold mirror card but they haven’t photographed well.
I will add the next 5 tomorrow once they are made.

CBC Spring and Birthday challenge 2010 – Clothes that crease

shoesGatefold
trifoldClothes

This challenge is to make two card with a fashion/clothes theme but to have more than one crease (fold). I have made a ladies gate fold and a gent’s tri-shutter card.
The colour doesn’t show up too well in my photos but they are nice and bright in real life.
For the shoes card I used white and blue card, bashful blue and black ink, copics to colour. The stamps are Stampin up dotty background and See D’s Domestic Goddess.
For the tri-shutter card I used stampin up paper and card, creamy caramel and chocolate chip ink. The top and bottom stamps are from The Artistic Stamper Ephemera and the clothes and watch are from a stamped image swap over on CBC. The images are coloured using watercolour pencils.

CBC Spring and Birthday challenge 2010 – Book it

borrowBookCoverborrowedBookPages
I have been meaning to make one of these for ages and this challenge gave me the kick start I needed. The challenge states that you must make a book from scratch, decorate the cover and some pages. After seeing Barbara Gray demonstrate this technique for masking the centre and sponging the edges I got the idea for the pages. I made this using an old one as a bit of a guide then added 10 pages (all the same). The pages are perforated along two lines. You tear the bookmark piece off and give it to the borrower and you can tear the other portion off once it is returned or you can leave it in if you want to keep a record.

I used plain white card, Brilliance olive, Distress ink shabby shutters and black document ink and lime stickles. The stamps are: Anna Griffin alphabet (plus a smaller one), R.S tapestry clear (fern) and Autumn leaves on the edge Katie Pertiet. For the perforations I used the fabby Stampin up cutter kit tool.

CBC Spring and Birthday challenge 2010 – A bit sketchy

pattysPlumPageSml

For this challenge you had to make anything you like but you had to use this sketch below. You get bonus points if you made a layout.
I have used BoBunny paper, Circle Circle Dot Dot template, gems, acetate arrow and some butterfly trim. My photograph is of my Oriental poppies in the back garden from last year (I was trying out the macro setting on my camera).
I have squished the sketch so it is all at the top right hand side of my layout.

CBC Spring and Birthday challenge 2010 Life in pictures 1

mstBedroomBeforeSml

The next challenge over at CBC is for a scrapbook page so I have made a very quick 8inch by 8inch of some work in progress on our master bedroom. We were doing up most of the house at the time and every room as an absolute tip but Harry actually wanted this one kept like this! He didn’t even want it painted but after further ‘discussion’ he changed his mind. The original photo was taken in 1993 and sadly neither of our two dogs pictured here are with us today.
I used my Cosmo cricket card again.

Altered book: Project 1 – stage 5

DLdiaDeLosMuertosSml
Brrrrr it is still freezing in my craft room so I haven’t been doing much in it lately. I did finish this double page layout in my altered book project a few days ago though called The day of the dead (Dia de los muertos). The actual event takes place over a few days – people celebrate the lives and deaths of their relatives and welcome their departed spirits to visit on all souls day. It is a bright and colourful event. People decorate alters with marigolds and offerings of food such as bread and sugar skulls with which to honour their deceased loved ones. You may recall that some time ago I made an ATC with the same theme, well I used some of the card I printed out for that ATC to cut out the small skulls in the alter here (waste not want not). The PS brushes used were from Mel (many thanks Mel).

Materials: Day of the dead material, vellum, white and black card, black gesso, Stampin up book plate, black lace trim, gold trim, brass metal piece, brad, peel-offs, gems, computer generated text and small skulls.

Printer’s drawer project

drawer1sml

Well now I think this project will keep me busy for a while!
My very kind and dear friends John and Lizzie gave me this printer’s drawer that they found while on holiday to do with what ever I please.  I will have to give it a bit of a clean up to get some of the old paint, oil and metal dust off first. I am still undecided if I want to keep all the spaces as they are or to cut out some of them to make slightly larger areas. Decision making has never been my strong point.
I will keep you posted on how I get on with this one.

CBC swap ATCs – postal theme

postalSml

Here are my two swaps for the CBC ATC swap for February. I picked the theme as I am hosting it so I chose ‘Postal’. I made the first one to look like a small bundle of manilla letters wrapped in string with a shrink plastic label saying urgent.
The second one is vellum with images of letters on it stamped with the phrase ‘spoken words fly away but written words last forever’. This was layered onto Basildon Bond paper which I had highlighted the watermark and tinted slightly. The addition of the feather (quill) also ties in with the words ‘fly away’.

Inks: black document ink, Distress ink Tea dye, Archival ink Coffee, Stazon Red
Card: brown paper, printed vellum, Basildon bond writing paper
Stamps: The Artistic Stamper Ephemera, Phrase stamp unknown origin
Other: stamp image, string, shrink plastic, feather (owl?)

Valentine card

Well now I am not really a Valentine-kinda-gal but I always make a card for Harry. He bought me the stamp set so I had no excuses really. The card says it all!
He hasn’t realised it is a fridge magnet yet!!!

Inks: black document ink, Memento Rhubarb stalk
Card: white card, 7 gypsies Karma paper
Stamps: O-check design graphics Love set ver.2
Other: heart shaped fridge magnet, organza ribbon
