S for spooky tag

spookySml

Ah well only a day late! Here is my tag for the ukstampers Sunday challenge N0.55 ‘S’ for spooky.
I used Lazy Daisy paper for the back ground and dribbled crimson acrylic paint down it. I stamped the dragons and castle, smudged a little distress ink in places and scribbled some lime green pencil over areas. I added glaze to the red drips. The S is grunge board painted crimson and the other letters are orange rub-ons coloured with red pen.  Photographed on a black background was not a good idea.

Inks: Distress ink black soot, black document ink
Card: Carolees Lazy daisy paper
Stamps: Arts Encaustic dragons and castle
Other: crimson acrylic paint, glaze, Hambly screen printed rub-ons Halloween, eyelet, lime pencil, grunge board letter

CBC ATC swap Autumn

autumnLeavesSmlAutumn Leaves

I am hosting the CBC ATC swap this month and for a nice easy theme I have picked ‘Autumn’. Here are my two for the swap. Inspired by Jo Capper-Sandon’s article in the October issue of Craft stamper magazine I have been playing with spray inks and natural masks to make the background card (the leaves ATC). She used small branches for her example but I have used Acer leaves as a mask for mine.

For Trick or Treat:
Inks and sprays: Adirondack color wash butterscotch, Chroma jewels wine, Gold Krylon webbing spray, Glitz spritz Dessert moon Antique rose, Versafine Black ink, gelly glaze pens, Distress ink black soot
Card: white
Stamps: Non-sequitur Grave tidings
Other: Hambly screen prints rub-ons Halloween (text), black plastic spider, Stickles, black pen to highlight text

For Autumn Leaves:
Inks and sprays: Adirondack color wash butterscotch, Chroma jewels wine, Gold krylon webbing spray, Adirondack dye ink cranberry,
Card: white card
Stamps: Non-sequitur Samurai Acer leaves
Other: Diamond glaze

Three flowers card

PatRobin09

I made the paper for the flowers using Glitz Spritz and lime green spray paint, then I stamped and cut out the flowers. Tiny micro beads add a little texture and glaze really makes the flowers stand out. The leaves are just punched from black card. The background paper is a very silky soft Chinese paper that I have wrapped around white card then layered it with some black card. The edge is stamped and coloured with H2Os.

Inks: Versafine onyx black, Glitz Spritz Desert moon antique rose, lime green spray, H2Os to colour
Card: white card, black card, Chinese silk paper (?),
Stamps: Hero arts four dolls (border), Free flower stamp from Craft stamper magazine
Other: micro beads, glaze, small leaf punch

Summer on the open road card

summerOpenroad
Over on CBC forum Carolineanne has set a challenge to make a greetings card depicting summer. Here is my entry for the challenge. I was going to do a seaside theme but I thought about doing something different – day trippers out for a drive on a nice summer day. Now I know it is at a jaunty and I thought it would look nice sitting on pink tissue paper but I couldn’t get that to lay flat. I stamped the image twice and decoupaged the car.

Inks: Black document, Stampin up Taken with teal, Brilliance graphite black, Memento London fog, copic pens to colour and black gelly glaze pen for tyres
Card: white card, teal card
Stamps: Paper nation vintage chic, The artistic stamper The open road set, Basic Grey flourish corners
Other: blooms, gems, ribbon, rub-on letters (summer), Making memories page pebbles (head lights)

ukstampers Sunday challenge C for Child tag

cookingChild

I went for the monochrome look this week for the ukstampers challenge – C for child.
The image is from Karen’s Whimsy and the only stamping this week is on the large blossom – black dots. The background was made using a PVC doily and stippling some black soot distress ink through it. The ‘C’ is grunge board coloured black and the words are rub-ons. Some areas and dots are highlighted with black glitter pen.

Inks: Distress ink black soot, black document ink
Card: black card, white card
Stamps: Stampin up polka dot background
Other: Grunge board letter, daisy trim, Stampin up blossoms, black button, black eyelet, glitter pen, black pen

Faux dichroic glass pendant

seaGlassPendant

My first attempt at faux dichroic glass! In the Craft stamper magazine (Feb 2009) there is a fabulous tutorial for this technique by Sid which I more or less followed. I don’t have a melt pot (yet) so I had to improvise with a craft iron turned upside down and a small Teflon coated dish from an old Raclette machine. It worked up-to-a-point but I also needed a heat gun to completely melt the UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel). I only had one piece of sea washed glass from the local beach and it wasn’t totally flat but it made a good practice piece.

Materials used:
sea washed glass
UTEE clear and also coloured with raspberry alcohol ink
Tonertex foil swirly multicoloured
silver foiling flakes
chain and aanraku bail
raspberry alcohol ink
