A pair of pears

pairOfPears

Here is my entry for Joanne’s challenge at CBC – Five-a-day. I don’t use my pear stamp all that often so it was fun thinking of a way to use it for the challenge.

Inks: black document ink, water colour pencils to colour pears
Card: watercolour paper, black card, ivory card, Bo-Bunny ‘my darling motion’
Stamps: Non-sequitur – oriental collage elements (52C) pear

House mice in flight

houseMice

The ukstampers challenge this week is for a tag with ‘H’ for house on it. This is my contribution with three house mice in flight. I selectively stamped the images then coloured them in. Smudged on some blue for the sky, then stamped the flourishes and flower. I then printed the words and dabbed over the black with white to soften. I distressed the edges a little for some of the white to show through then finished with the eyelet and the dome.

Inks: Versafine onyx black, Versacolor white, Colorbox fluid chalk ink ice blue
Card: white
Stamps: House mouse Geronimo and Flight delight, Basic Grey Flourish corners, flower (unknown), H from See D’s traditional alphabet,
Other: square clear dome, Sakura sparkle pens, glossy accents for the eyes, bronze eyelet, computer generated words, copics and lime pen to colour

Nature’s Jewels tag

The inspiration for this tag came from a photo of dew drops, or rain drops, on a spider’s web that came across somewhere on the web (no pun intended).

It is for the uk stampers weekly challenge and the letter is ‘J’ for Jewels.

Spa-Francorchamps

spa1
Here is my entry to Carolyn’s challenge – cafe culture. The photo was a strange colour in the first place as it was a very bright sunny day and we are all sitting outside a Belgian cafe. The Grand Prix circuit at Spa-Francorchamps is situated in beautiful surroundings and the riders have to contend with steep hills and forests (creating dark and bright areas) and it uses part of the main road too. We had wonderful weather, race day was especially glorious, and we had a fabulous holiday but this is the only photo I have to remember it by.

Inks: Adirondack woodlands, Versafine onyx black, Brilliance pearlescent ivy
Card: white, Bo-Bunny Beau jardin bleu, dark green
Stamps: Dimensional Forth Ltd. Motorcycle racers, stampin up Loads of love (tree) and background sanded
Other: images: Stella Artois and circuit map from web, ribbon and brads

Drastic Fantastic

drasticFantasticKT

It was October 2007 when Harry and I saw KT Tunstall live at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh and yes she was FANTASTIC! I wanted to make a scrapbook page using my concert ticket , the CD cover (inside) and a few photos. I am hopeless at taking photos at these kind of events so I had to go on the scrounge. Many thanks to Martyn who very kindly gave me permission to use a few of his fabulous KT photos.
As I am setting this week CBC challenge – the theme is ‘just the ticket’ so pop in and join in with the challenge.

Inks: Distress inks fired brick and peeled paint
Card: Bo-Bunny’s back to backs My darling blooms and Ella precocious, scan of CD cover, white
Stamps: Elusive images Funky doodles fresh
Other: Tim Holtz hinged clip and grunge board flourish, stickles, domed embellishment, concert ticket and photos

Poor Pandas ATCs

Card: white covered with panda paper, acetate

King of all the faeries

KingOfFaeries
My tag for the ukstampers challenge No.36 – ‘K’ for king features Finnbheara, who is King of all the faeries. The wording is on acetate which gives the slight shadow effect to the text. Some of my first ever stamps were bought from Scottish border Stamping and they very kindly sent me Finnbheara as a free gift. I haven’t had any ideas on how to use him until now so this is his first outing.

Inks: Versamark onyx black, Tim Holtz distress ink; dried marigold, tea dye, peeled paint, mustard seed, and frayed burlap, Adirondack woodlands, Marvy pens and pearlex to colour
Card: white card, acetate
Stamps: Scottish border stamping Finnbheara, selection of tapestry stamps

Rust Lives tag

rustLives
I had a few ideas for this tag and it was hard to choose which one to do. I started off thinking Dumpy’s rusty nuts (it is a band – Honest) then went on to Rust never sleeps (Neil Young), then Live rust (Neil Young) which gave rise to Rust Lives. I thought this was apt as rust does grow and spread a bit like an infection until it has devoured it’s host. I had tried to rust some steel wool which normally rusts in the blink of an eye but when you need it rusty it just doesn’t happen. Harry then tried to help me find some rusty objects and gave me a rusty beer can, but that just disintegrated when I tried to cut it. Then, while out for a run in the car the other day Harry spotted a piece of rusty metal by the side of the road so we brought it home with us but I couldn’t think how I was going to cut it into usable pieces as it was quite large and thick. I finally did use that piece of rusty metal but just as a photo (much easier than cutting it).
Inks: Tim Holtz distress ink black soot, fired brick, dried marigold, and Versamark with Tim Holtz Distress powder vintage photo, Alcohol ink Rust
Card: glossy photo
Stamps: Stampers anonymous Urban tapestry (corner and side splatters down the side) Other: Tim Holtz stencils type, squashed bottle cap, stampin up eyelet, glossy accents
