My Mother’s day card for Harry’s mum.
The frame is stamped and embossed then coloured using copic pens. The centre is cut out to reveal the message.

Inks: versamark with pearl violet embossing powder, green and yellow copics
Cards: white card, old olive for base layer
Stamp: Michael Strong’s cloisonné frame
Other: blue ribbon and Scottish thistle, computer generated message

urban frenzy mum urban frenzy mum2
And a slightly different card for my mum. I thought I would go for a bit of urban grunge for my mum for a change. Mum is an artist and is very creative so I hope this will appeal to her.

Inks: versafine onyx black, Distress inks; tattered rose, mustard seed, fired brick, peeled paint, Brilliance lightning black, bleach,
Card: white textured, acetate, yellow vellum, luggage tag
Stamps: Stampers anonymous (Tim Holtz) Urban tapestry and Fairytale frenzy, Stampin up canvas background, RS tapestry nature plate 5 (butterfly)
Other: ribbon, washers, brads, large eyelet

The images are stamped first then the colour is added using colour dusters (small bristle brushes). Small areas are then highlighted with bleach. Edges are distressed using sandpaper block. The tag is made using the same technique with the addition of stamped wording on the top and on an acetate tag behind, fastened together using the large eyelet. The greeting is computer generated onto vellum which is then torn and layered with stamped, coloured and distressed card. The washers and brads hold the greeting together and this forms the pocket for the tag. Some tiny areas are highlighted with a bit of sparkle.

ATC swap theme YELLOW

yellow

Here are my ATCs for the CBC ATC swap for March and this month’s theme is YELLOW. They are very simple; just stamped images coloured using copics, finished with a torn strip of yellow vellum. I decoupaged the daffodils for a bit of depth, and I added a bit of sparkle to the rose.

Inks: versafine onyx black, copic to colour, Distress ink mustard seed to colour the edges
Card: white card, yellow vellum
Stamps: Rose – Aspects of design 1 – floral, Daffodils – supastamp-online

Feeding the birds

Well the weather can’t make up it’s mind what it is doing…sun..rain..sleet…sun…wind…snow etc.
so I have been staying warm indoors with my scrapbook stuff spread all over the place for the last couple of days and here are my latest scrap pages. We put out birdseed and peanuts to attract the little birds to our garden but we often have other visitors to the bird feeders.

ATC swap theme ART

The ukstamper’s ATC swap theme for March is ART so inspired by StampZia’s amazing site I had a go at these 3. The ideas and techniques are from stamp Zia but I have used different colours and stamps and tweaked the ideas slightly.

ArtOrchid
Inks: black document ink, black Marvy pen with clear embossing powder
Stamps: Stamps Happen magnolia floral, paperartsy (unique art) Man of numbers – plate 5
Card: white box board
Colours: slate and neon green sprays, bleach, Copic begonia pink and dark suntan, red neon pen
Other: sequin waste, art masking fluid

I scribbled the masking fluid onto the card and waited until it was dry, then sprayed some splodges of green and when that was dry I sprayed it lightly with slate through the sequin waste varying the intensity. When that was all dry I then rubbed off the masking fluid and stamped unique art in document ink by stamping off first. Then I selectively inked the flower only with Marvy pen, huffed to moisten before stamping then embossed with clear powder. I then lifted some of the colour from the petals using the bleach (in an aqua brush) and once it was dry I coloured in the petals and stems.

ArtFlower
Inks: Brilliance galaxy gold with gold embossing powder
Stamps: paperartsy (ART) Man of numbers – plate 5, Elusive images oriental plate A better place, Non sequitur – Cranes 9D
Colours: wine and elderberry sprays, bleach, stampin up taken with teal, red pencil
Card: white box board
Other: sequin waste

For this one I used a similar technique to spray the the colours on, then stamped all the images in gold and embossed them. I took the colour out of the flower, crane and a few other bits and highlighted the letters using the bleach. I dabbed water onto the area around the crane to lift only a small amount of colour. The swirls and small areas of the flower were coloured with teal using cut ‘n’ dry nibs.

ArtGinko
Inks: Brilliance galaxy gold with gold embossing powder
Stamps: Judikins Carol’s cube (large Ginko leaf), Non -sequitur Oriental collage elements 52C (small Ginko leaf), and quote (unknown)
Colours: neon green, forest green, Glitz Spritz spray Desert moon antique rose sprays, neon orange pen
Card: white box board
Other: sequin waste, gold Pilot pen, white Signo pen

Again using the same technique to spray the two green colours on then lifted the colour from the leaves and coloured them orange. I then highlighted areas with the white pen and splattered some gold spots on with the gold Pilot pen. The ATC was then finished off with a light spray of the Glitz spritz.

ATC swap theme – X

x theme
I found this swap theme quite hard. Hazel’s ATC swap choice this month at CBC is ‘X’ so I chose X Box and The X factor. No stamping involved this time though just a bit of free hand drawing with the circles and text done on the computer. I just couldn’t get my shading right on the X for the X box – that was the third attempt and my glaze took on a strange blue tint. Hey ho.
