Brayered anniversary card

JandL2010sml
I made this for my great friends who are having way too much fun in the sun!
This time I left a space at the top corner when I brayered the blues and greens to emulate the suns rays coming through the water.  It was misted with a little water to keep it misty looking and I masked some of the sea weed so the sea horse looks like it is swimming behind it.
Inks:  Memento Tuxedo black, Stampin up Bashful blue, Mellow moss and Sage shadow, Adirondack Slate and woodlands
Card:  white, black, holographic aqua
Stamps:  Lavinia stamps, Mermaid silhouette, Sea creatures and scene, grasses fro English Stamp Co. Oriental plate 3
Other:  netting, mixed fibres, glitter pen, gen clusters, Bedazzles electric slide, Diamond glaze

Another brayered sympathy card

This one is quite simply brayed along each corner of the white card then stamped.  It was a little too bright so I then spritzed it with water and a little gold powder (this gives it a misty effect with a very slight golden sheen when tilted).  Ignore the fluffy bits at the top of the olive layer as this just brushes away – which I meant to do before I photographed it.

Inks:  Big and juicy Spice (green end only), Stampin up Mellow moss, Adirondak Woodlands
Card:  white silk card, brown textured, old olive, mellow moss
Stamps:  Lavinia stamps, Rubber tapestry clear, Papertreyink Out on a limb sentiments
Other: Mellow moss ribbon, brown brads

Brayered sympathy card

Today I was going to do the next tag challenge over at ukstampers…..then I was going to make a start on some Christmas cards……but I ended up making a sympathy card – how did that happen??   I just couldn’t bring myself to think about Christmas yet, even though I really aught to, and I had just put away all my fabric so I didn’t want to haul it all out again and I don’t know about you, but when I really need a sympathy card my mind goes blank and no ideas are forthcoming.  I will do a few designs over the next few days so I can have a few cards ready when the need arises.  I have made one similar to this one recently but it didn’t feel right to post it on my blog at that time.

Inks:  Memento Tuxedo black, Stampin up Bashful blue and Pale plum,Archival Cobalt, Distress ink Black soot
Card:  white, purple, black textured

Brayerd birthday card

A little bit of masking, brayering and resist embossing went into Ross’s card.
The pheasant was stamped first then a cut out mask put over it, the wheat was then stamped and embossed (clear embossing powder), a bit of brayering over the top and bottom, a circle mask was then used for the setting/rising sun and darker brayering over the top.  A few other plants were stamped later.
Inks:  Distress ink Barn door and Mustard seed, Stampin up More mustard, Adirondak Woodland
Card:  White, silk card, black textured card, more mustard,
Stamps:  Stampin up Autumn days and Pocket silhouettes
Other:  brads, clear embossing powder

Brayered embossing folder anniversary card

This took a little practice but I finally achieved the look I was aiming for: a misty sunset glow in a woodland.  I brayered white coated card with Big and juicy Spice ink, embossed it using a Cuttle bug folder then using direct to paper technique swiped the brown across the branches.  To get the misty look I sprayed it with a fine mist of water with a little gold powder then left it to dry.

Inks:  Big and Juicy Spice, Adirondack Woodland
Card:  white coated card, green textured, brown pearlised
Stamp:  Stampin up Cheers and wishes
Other:  brown linen thread, Camelot Rose (tinted with a little Spice ink to match), gold powder

Entwined hummingbirds birthday card

I have tried to keep it simple but I am one of these people who just wants to add more so it was hard for me to just stop there.
The image was stamped first onto the card then coloured using sponges through a mask I made by cutting out the circle areas around the hummingbirds.  It looked a bit too plain and I thought about adding borders or glitter etc but went for matching ribbon and fibres instead.

Inks:  Memento Onyx black, Distress inks Barn door and Mustard seed
Card:  white card
Stamps: Clarity Entwined hummingbirds
Other:  black organza ribbon, fibres

Stamped fabric card

I had time today for a wee play with some plain calico.  I was inspired by the article by Rachel Jackson in the August issue of Craft Stamper magazine about block printing.  I didn’t have half the stash that she used so I had to improvise but I am pleased with the result and would definitely do this again.

Inks:  Archival Cobalt, Versacraft Autumn leaf and Emerald, Brilliance Moonlight white
Card: ivory card and plain calico
Stamps:  Magenta frond, Flourish (unknown), English Stamp Co. Paisley, free flower stamp from craft stamper mag, text stamp
Other:  Ecoline liquid water colour Scarlet and Chartreuse, Lumière metallic acrylic Sunset Gold. UHU textile colour (not very good) red, sequins, seed beads, flower centre and gold stickles

Anniversary card

Having read the October issue of the Craft Stamper magazine I was reminded of a technique I’ve used before so I used it here for an anniversary card.  Joanne Wardle used similar colours but I have used them vertically instead of horizontally so it is not meant to be a sunset just Autumnal colours.  Although I love trying out new techniques it is nice to re-visit some older ones.

Inks:  Distress inks Barn door and Mustard seed, Memento black
Card:  white silk
Stamps:  Stampin up Cheers and wishes, and Autumn days, swirl
Other:  post it notes to mask

Male birthday card

I have been having a play with wordle to make this card and it is great fun!  You get a better result if you put in  more words i.e. a paragraph from a poem or song or even a dictionary definition but even just a few words like this greeting with a few embellishments can work. It could make great back ground papers.
Inks:  Distress inks Vintage photo and Walnut stain
Card:  white, brown textured, woodgrain

Other:  brads, image from wordle

Bridge card

You may recognise the image from a previous post (9th June) – well I rescued the image by cropping it from the card, edging with black ink then layering it with the pale blue and black card. This has helped give more balance to the card. The corners were cut using a circle punch and I added some black pearl embellishments to the corners. To give the stream some sparkle I added Rock candy stickles to it.
