ukstampers Sunday challenge O for Oriental

This is my Oriental tag for the ukstampers Sunday challenge No. 58 O for Oriental. The Faux cloisonné article by Carole Cann in the Craft stamper mag Jul9 09 was my inspiration for this. As usual I didn’t have the same materials and I thought I could use gold leaf instead of gold fun foil. Well I could, just not in the same way that Carole used the foil. I had to use sticky stuff embossing powder to get it to stick properly but I got there in the end. The edging to the tag was done by using gold leafing glue on a dry brush and stoking it roughly on to give a kind of feathered edge inside. The tag was then sprayed all over with the glimmer mist. Little particles from the glimmer mist got into the wee spaces and it looks a bit like a crackle effect. I didn’t have a leaf stamp that went with the design so I stamped a few dragonflies and used the wings as leaves. The small piece that looks like filigree is paper lace that has gold leaf put onto the sticky back of the lace.

Inks: versamark
Card: black, turquoise iridescent, purple pearlised
Stamps: Hero arts Four dolls (small flowers), free stamp from Craft stamper (large flower), Non sequitur Oriental collage elements (dragonfly wings for the leaves)
Other: gold leaf, Judikins Sticky stuff embossing powder, H2Os to colour, Glimmer mist Sweet pea, Diamond glaze, gems, Grunge board O, cloisonné bead, turquoise wire with gold findings, Lakeland paper lace border
