Gelliplate monoprint Autumn leaves

I did say to some friends a while back that I would not be buying a Gelli printing plate but I have to admit once I looked into it and watched some of the how-to videos I succumbed.  I had my first play yesterday and after a few attempts I finally made a couple that I really like.  I used the method shown here but instead of using bits of paper for masks I used Maidenhair fern and Acer leaves from my garden along with bottle lids and needlepoint mesh and some fibres.  My ghost print is not great but I think the reason is that either my acrylic paint was not fluid enough or I didn’t use enough of it.  I over sprayed the monoprint with dilute Chartreuse liquid watercolour and added a touch of Distress ink.

Acrylic paints:
1st layer: gold, bronze, yellow ochre  (it had almost dried by the time I did the ghost layer so that is why you can’t see much there).
2nd layer: Rose madder
3rd layer: Ultra marine
Card:  computer paper  (this is thin enough to cut up and use in collages)
Other:  Gelli plate, Ecoline Chartreuse liquid watercolour, Distress ink mowed law, fibres

Brayered fairy birthday card

Erin has a fairy sitting on a crescent moon tattoo and although it is not exactly the same as this stamp I thought it would make a nice card for her.  From the front the moon just looks a bit grey but just turning the card ever so slightly at an angle shows the lovely pearly moon and some of the glitter or should I say fairy dust. I brayered both red and purple at the top of the card but mostly purple as I got to the bottom left corner and I added some feathery lines to her dress to give her a more floaty feel.
Inks:  Adirondack Cranberry and Wild plum, Stampin up Ruby red, Memento Tuxedo black
Card: silk matte coated card, large aperture card
Stamps:  Lavinia silhouette leaves and flowers, fairy and moon stamp (unknown)
Other:  stickles, black glitter, black pen, copics, Pearlex Macropearl, mini mosaics

See me art journal pages

At first I was not at all pleased with these pages as they were just a bit too messy (more mess than grunge) but they are growing on me.  They reflect how I was feeling at the time: invisible, ignored, angry, frustrated, people looking through or past me, not being heard, being dismissed…….and so on. I find the scribbles and scratches get over the angry frustrating feelings while the images of the grungy silhouettes signify me just blending into the background.

I feel like this a LOT!!

Inks/paint: various acrylic paints, Memento Tuxedo black, Stampin up Taken with teal, Speedball India ink
Card: plain journal, tissue paper (stamped with the grungy silhouettes)
Stamps:  Dina Waklay Grungy silhouette D1007, Tim Holtz alphabet, Scrolls Work Stamps Netting, Paperbag studios Scrap journal (bubble wrap stamp)
Other:  Crafty notions Rusting powder and vinegar, Oil pastels, white pen, Black Pitt pens, Glue n seal
