Fairy garden card

Today I have finally had time to play with my new Lavinia stamps that I bought ages ago. I have mixed them up with other stamps which I think go really well together. Although I have added my copyright to this image I did get the original idea from some of the cards in the gallery over at Lavinia stamps. Check out her secret garden cards they are lovely. In fact they are all beautiful and my wish list just keeps getting longer.
This card will be winging it’s way to the Greek islands to Lizzie, my fabulous friend, who will be on holiday on her birthday.

Father’s day origami shirt card

Yet again the photo does not do this card justice. I made this for my dad, who is not having the best of times health wise, to go with his new Tattersall shirt. Dad had a mini stroke back in March and he is making very slow progress. Just when he starts feeling better he is struck down with something else. He has always liked these shirts as they are soft and cosy and even though it is summer time it should help keep him warm.

The background paper is just made up of lines in 3 colours (wine, green and blue) printed onto an ivory/cream paper and edged with aged mahogany.

Photo memory frame birthday card

I was playing around with tissue paper for part of this card and it really helps give it some texture, while it is still wet you can squidge it about to get as much or as little texture as you like.  I stamped the diamond background onto ivory card, coloured it with distress ink, then covered it with mod podge, laid the tissue paper over it and covered it all in mod podge. The pattern and colour of the diamond background comes through the tissue but is quite subtle. For a darker effect I stamped the family photograph onto tissue paper then stuck this to the background paper and covered with more mod podge. Once everything had dried I sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and carefully melted it from behind. I stamped a further image of the photograph, cut it to size and fitted it into a memory frame behind a Tim Holtz fragment. Now normally I would attach embellishments with a brad in between the layers so that you don’t see the splayed part of the brad, but this time I pushed the brad in last so it went all the way through the front of the card. This just means that the embellishments and be taken off and used on another project or Chris can take the stamped image from the frame and put in one of his own small photos to be used as a key ring (or other such thing).

Windowbox (country window) birthday card

It will soon be Harry’s mum’s birthday so I have made her this window box card full of colourful flowers. I did find it a little tricky to mask all the right bits but I got there in the end. To make it a little touchy-feely I added some flower-soft and distress stickles to some of the plants and corners. Thanks for the link Pauline – this is my first effort with the stamps.

Mucha ATCs for CBC swap May

The ATC swap for May over at CBC is the letter ‘M’ so I have chosen Mucha. Here are topaz and amethyst (from his precious stones and flowers prints).

Note to self: it is very difficult to glue the acetate on top of something that you have put distress stickles on, even with diamond glaze!

I kept the general placement of the photo, the distressed edges to both background layers, my swirls are beads on wire, under the photo are 3 skeleton leaves with gold leaf behind them, the maple leaf is a real maple leaf encased in some kind of resin (fridge magnet).
I started by spraying the More mustard layer with the sprays and sponged on some mustard seed then splattered with more colour. I distressed the edges and added the brown colours to the back and curled the over. The photo is actually a photocopy of a picture I had cut out from a magazine of branches hanging over a pond. I coloured the leaf beads (which were pale green) using copic pens and placed some behind the photo and some along the front aligned with the branches on the photo. Stuck everything on then stamped the word Fall over the leaves and layered this page onto the black card which I had distressed the edges already.

Inks: Memento black, Colour washes Terracotta and Pesto, made a spray with Magenta ink, Distress ink Walnut stain , Vintage photo and Mustard seed

Callum’s birthday card

Callum’s birthday card: I am trying to get him interested in growing his own herbs as he loves cooking. I bought him a herb garden growing kit so you never know – he might just get the bug. Ok so he got cash too just in case the herbs are just not his thing! The images are clipart on photo card matted onto green patterned paper. Hope you have a fab birthday Callum!

Earlier this week it was our great friend’s Fraser and Carey’s wedding anniversary!
I love Lavinia stamps especially the fairies and wildlife silhouettes, they are very delicate and detailed. Guess what – I have just gone and bought some more!!

I haven’t been in the mood for much crafting recently but I did make a couple of cards. Here is one I made for Cameron (my godson) who had an awful crash while on a speed trial. Good news: he has made a remarkable recover! I do hope the others involved also recover well.

Anniversary card

Inspiration for this card came from the CBC forum birthday challenge where the challenge was to create a card using only one colour. Some people made classy all white cards that I really liked for not only the simplicity but also the elegance of the effect. For Chris and Grace’s wedding anniversary this year I made this using only ivory (with gold on the greeting). The photo however adds a slightly strange colour to the ivory ribbon.
