A watercolour painting from a Terry Harrison tutorial. I didn’t quite get the colour right in the sky at the left hand side so I tried to make it into a bank of trees across from the harbour.

After the storm watercolour
I like paintings with little boats in them and I am trying to practice sky and sea painting with varying success. This one is from a Terry Harrison tutorial.
Breaking wave watercolour
I have been learning to paint by reading books and doing a few tutorial and this painting is from one of Terry Harrison’s online tutorials. They are good tutorials for beginners as he shows how he mixes his colours and takes you through each step so you can learn different techniques. It still takes practice though to get the techniques right.
Tall encaustic landscape card
Turned the card to portrait for this encaustic landscape and I used the more traditional earthy colours again.
Encaustic Auroa landscape card
This card looks a little bit like the Aurora Borealis over some hills with a bit of reflection in the sea or a loch. I had a touch of silver wax left in my stylus and this mixed with the brown when I was defining the edge of the coast and I like how it turned out.
Seascape encaustic card
The sea and sky in this card in real life are much more aqua coloured but neither scanner nor camera would pick out the colours correctly. I normally do the rocks in ponds with dragonflies flying around but this time I wanted it to look more like the sea so I added some birds (seagulls).

I tried to scan just the painting but the scanner didn’t pick up the neon colours so I put it into the card and took a digital photo instead and these colours look almost like the real painting. You still don’t see the subtle shading but the colours are mostly there.

I have been playing with my waxes again and going for a slightly different colour combo than my usual. Not that much different but not a simple pale blue and pink sky this time.
First Aid Kit scrapbook page
I haven’t made a scrapbook page for a while and I had these bits and bobs in a bag ready to go so it didn’t take me long to do. Harry and I attended their Stay Gold concert at the Usher hall and they were excellent. I might not sit in the grand circle box again as it was rather loud, the massive speakers on our right hand side didn’t do much for the overall sound experience, and I did notice that there was an area in the stalls for disabled people so next time we might try there instead. As the photograph is taken from above you can’t really see the shine on the gold border, angel hair and embellishments.
Bird journey card
A birthday card for my other niece using brusho for the background and some text stamps and a bird on a twig stamp.
